Food4Education is a Nairobi, Kenya-based nonprofit that is dedicated to provide healthy and nutritious food to students at heavily subsidized prices. The organization seeks to improve food security for low-income children, and through its Amplify grant, it’s determining the most innovative and effective ways to do it. Already Food4Education has started running a restaurant, a portion of whose proceeds go to subsidizing school lunches for children living in Nairobi’s slums. Now they’re trying to figure out how to maximize profits—perhaps by moving the restaurant, trying a pop-up, catering corporate events—and thus maximize the good they can do. Through its involvement with Amplify, Food4Education will keep iterating and pilot the program.
