Alix Emden

Operations Lead

As Operations Lead, Alix supports IDEO.org’s Finance and Operations teams in staying organized, on track, and generally bringing clarity to chaos. Whether it’s people or knowledge, she’s a master at providing structure within complex systems. Previously she sat on IDEO.org's Global Gender portfolio supporting partnerships operations and design teams for project and programs with a gender focus. 

Before IDEO.org, Alix worked for Medic, an organization designing open-source technology for community health workers, managing their internal communication and technology systems. She holds expertise in global health and research, having worked at Lwala Community Alliance, Precision Medicine, and the Martha’s Vineyard Center for Clinical Research. Her earlier work as a farmhand was extremely formative in immersing her in hardworking, team-driven environments.

Alix holds a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine, Health, and Society from Vanderbilt University. When she’s not working, you can find Alix exploring city neighborhoods searching for new coffee shops, markets, and vegetarian restaurants. She loves to paint and is a Recology zero waste champion.
